The engine warning light, often called the Check Engine light, can appear for many different reasons.
A steady yellow light does not automatically mean that the engine is about to fail. It can be related to a sensor, emissions system, ignition problem or another component detected by the car's electronic control unit.

You should also check the oil and coolant levels, look for signs of leaks and ask about the vehicle's maintenance history.
