Toyota electric cars in 2026: models, prices and range
Before you close the dealCheck the vehicle history by its chassis number, confirm ISV and IUC in the calculators, and compare the asking price with the live adverts for the same model.

Yes, Toyota already sells 100% electric cars in Portugal. There are three SUVs: the C-HR+ (from €41,480), the bZ4X (from €45,640) and the bZ4X Touring (from €50,350), with 444 to 607 km of WLTP range. There are also electric versions of the Proace vans, including the Proace City Verso MPV.

Used ones are scarce: on the day we wrote this, AUTO.MOTO.pt listed two 2023 bZ4X for €30,000 and €31,500.

In this guide: prices and range for each model, which one to choose, what to check on a used one, the battery warranty, taxes and charging.

New Toyota electric cars: models and prices in 2026

Recommended retail prices "from", VAT included, and combined WLTP range, according to the Toyota Portugal website on 28 September 2026:

  • C-HR+: 167 to 343 hp, 57.7 or 77 kWh battery, 458 to 607 km, from €41,480
  • bZ4X: 167 or 224 hp (an all-wheel-drive version is also available), 57.7 or 73.1 kWh battery, 444 to 569 km, from €45,640
  • bZ4X Touring: 224 to 380 hp, 74.7 kWh battery, 480 to 591 km, from €50,350
  • Proace City Verso electric (passenger MPV): from €26,640

Prices change with campaigns, versions and equipment. Always check the brand's configurator or a dealer.

Toyota C-HR+: the electric C-HR

The C-HR+ is the 100% electric version of the C-HR and Toyota's cheapest electric SUV. Don't mix them up: the "regular" C-HR is a hybrid (with or without a plug), the C-HR+ runs on its battery only.

With the 57.7 kWh battery and front-wheel drive it is rated at 458 km. With the 77 kWh battery it reaches 607 km (front-wheel drive) or 501 km (all-wheel drive, the most powerful version, with 343 hp). The boot holds 416 litres.

On a 150 kW rapid charger it goes from 10% to 80% in about 28 minutes in ideal conditions (25 °C). On AC it accepts up to 22 kW, depending on the version.

Toyota bZ4X: the family SUV

The updated bZ4X is roomier inside and has a 452-litre boot. The entry version (57.7 kWh, 167 hp) is rated at 444 km and costs from €45,640. With the 73.1 kWh battery it reaches 569 km (front-wheel drive) or 516 km (all-wheel drive).

Toyota quotes about 28 minutes from 10% to 80% on a rapid charger at 25 °C, and about 30 minutes even at −10 °C if battery pre-conditioning is switched on 40 minutes beforehand.

bZ4X Touring: more space and all-wheel drive

The bZ4X Touring is the longer version, with a 669-litre boot and a 74.7 kWh battery in every version. The entry version (Premium, front-wheel drive, 224 hp) costs from €50,350 and is rated at up to 591 km.

The all-wheel-drive version reaches 380 hp and adds X-Mode, with settings for snow, dirt and mud. It is the pick for anyone who often heads to the mountains or drives on dirt roads.

What about an electric Urban Cruiser or Yaris?

The electric Urban Cruiser does not appear in the range on the Toyota Portugal website at the time of writing. And there is no 100% electric Yaris: the Yaris models sold in Portugal are hybrid or petrol.

C-HR+ or bZ4X: which one to choose

The choice depends mostly on how much space you need:

  • C-HR+: cheaper, easier to park in town and with the longest range in the line-up (up to 607 km). Good for a couple or a small family.
  • bZ4X: more rear and boot space, for anyone carrying children and child seats every day.
  • bZ4X Touring: for family holidays with a full boot, or for anyone who needs proper all-wheel drive.

For family holidays the boot matters as much as the range: 416 litres in the C-HR+, 452 in the bZ4X and 669 in the bZ4X Touring.

A simple rule: if you mostly drive in town with some motorway, the C-HR+ is enough. If it will be the family's main car, compare both bZ4X in person, with the child seats fitted.

Used Toyota electric cars on AUTO.MOTO.pt

Used electric Toyotas are still rare, because the brand came late to fully electric cars. On AUTO.MOTO.pt, on 28 September 2026, there were five electric Toyotas for sale:

  • two 2023 bZ4X: €30,000 with 13,600 km and €31,500 with 27,000 km;
  • three Proace Verso electric vans from 2022 to 2024, between €17,990 and €21,990;
  • no C-HR+, which has only just reached dealers.

Stock changes every day: see the Toyota bZ4X listings and, to compare with other brands, our guide to the best used electric cars.

What to check on a used bZ4X

The 2022 and 2023 bZ4X are the first generation: about 204 hp and a 71.4 kWh battery, different from today's cars. Before buying:

  • ask for a battery state-of-health (SoH) report from a Toyota dealer or a workshop with the brand's diagnostics, not a reading from a cheap OBD adapter;
  • ask whether the car's software updates are up to date, because the first cars charged more slowly in the cold;
  • check that the annual battery checks were done in the Toyota network, because the warranty extension depends on them (see below);
  • check the history and chassis number with the VIN check.

In winter rapid charging takes longer: on first-generation bZ4X, ask about the software updates.

Battery warranty

According to Toyota Portugal, the battery in the brand's electric cars is covered against degradation below 70% of its original capacity for 8 years or 160,000 km, and against defects for 5 years or 100,000 km.

With annual battery health checks in the official network, that cover can be extended up to 10 years or 1 million kilometres, whichever comes first. The exact terms are with the dealer: read them before buying, especially a used car.

Taxes: no ISV and no IUC

ISV: fully electric cars are outside the scope of the vehicle tax (ISV Code, article 2(2)(a)). It is not paid on a new car or when registering an imported used one.

IUC: they are also exempt from the annual circulation tax (IUC Code, article 5(1)(e)). The "selo" is zero every year.

Note: the plug-in hybrid C-HR does not get these exemptions. It pays ISV (reduced, if it meets the legal requirements) and pays IUC. For companies, VAT and autonomous taxation rules depend on the car's price: check with your accountant.

Fundo Ambiental incentive: the 2025/2026 scheme closed applications on 27 July 2026 and only covered new cars up to €38,500 including VAT (€55,000 with more than five seats), below the entry price of the C-HR+ and the bZ4X. If a new scheme opens, the rules may differ.

Charging at home and on the road

They all charge with a Type 2 plug at home or at a standard charger, and CCS at rapid chargers on the Mobi.E network. The C-HR+'s official consumption is 13.4 to 15.7 kWh/100 km: multiply by your tariff's price per kWh to get the cost per 100 km.

On an ordinary household socket, charging a 77 kWh battery from empty can take more than 24 hours. With an 11 kW wallbox, Toyota quotes about 5 hours from 10% to 80%. Charging at home on a two-period (bi-horária) tariff is almost always much cheaper than a rapid charger. We did the maths in our article on how much it costs to charge an electric car at home.

New electric or used C-HR hybrid?

Many people in Portugal ask this, and the answer starts in the garage:

  • Can you charge at home or at work? A new electric car pays off: no ISV, no IUC and every kilometre costs less.
  • Do you live in a flat with no garage? Relying only on public chargers eats much of the saving. A hybrid is simpler.
  • Do you make lots of long, unplanned trips? A hybrid fills up in minutes at any petrol station.

On 28 September 2026, AUTO.MOTO.pt listed 14 used Toyota C-HR petrol hybrids, from 2016 to 2022, between €12,000 and €30,900. Well below the €41,480 of a new C-HR+.

Frequently asked questions

Does Toyota make an electric car?

Yes. In Portugal it sells the C-HR+, the bZ4X and the bZ4X Touring, plus electric versions of the Proace vans.

What is the cheapest electric Toyota?

Among the SUVs, the C-HR+, from €41,480 (Toyota Portugal "from" price on 28 September 2026). If an MPV will do, the electric Proace City Verso costs from €26,640. Used, 2023 bZ4X start at around €30,000.

Is the electric C-HR the C-HR+?

Yes. The C-HR without the "+" is always a hybrid; the C-HR+ is the fully electric one.

Is there an electric Toyota Yaris?

No. The Yaris models sold in Portugal are hybrid or petrol.

How much does the Toyota bZ4X cost?

New, from €45,640; the bZ4X Touring from €50,350. Used, 2023 cars at around €30,000 to €31,500 in the listings we saw.

Why did Toyota take so long to make electric cars?

For years the brand bet on hybrids and backed several solutions at once (hybrids, plug-ins, electric and hydrogen). That is why its fully electric range arrived later than other brands'.

Conclusion

If you have somewhere to charge, the C-HR+ is today the cheapest way into a new electric Toyota, while the bZ4X and bZ4X Touring suit families who need space. Used bZ4X are few, and the battery deserves a careful check. Without a charger at home, a used C-HR hybrid is still the most sensible choice.
