The race to create the fastest car in the world never stops. Every year, new hypercars push the limits of engineering and aerodynamics. So, who holds the crown in 2025?
1. The fastest car in 2025
The current record belongs to the YangWang U9 Xtreme, a Chinese electric hypercar by BYD, which reached 496 km/h (308 mph) in verified tests.
With over 1,300 horsepower, advanced aerodynamics, and F1-inspired technology, the U9 Xtreme dethroned the iconic Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, which previously held the record at 490 km/h (304 mph).
2. The previous speed kings
Before electric cars took the stage, the title belonged to:
- Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ – 490 km/h
- Koenigsegg Agera RS – 447 km/h
- SSC Tuatara – 455 km/h (disputed)
- Hennessey Venom GT – 435 km/h
These cars are marvels of combustion-engine engineering, combining raw power, precision aerodynamics, and lightweight carbon-fiber bodies.
3. The rise of electric hypercars
Electric cars are now proving they can dominate the speed charts. The Rimac Nevera and the upcoming Tesla Roadster 2025 boast mind-blowing acceleration — 0 to 100 km/h in under 2 seconds.
4. The future of speed
Breaking the 500 km/h barrier is the next big milestone. Manufacturers like Bugatti, Koenigsegg, and Hennessey are already developing prototypes capable of achieving it.
Fun fact: The first car to surpass 100 km/h was the La Jamais Contente — in 1899, and it was electric!
