Thanks to its technology, range, and generous government support for green mobility, buying a Tesla in Portugal is a very profitable investment.

<span>Prices are stable as of January 2026, and the new entry-level Model 3 has made the brand even more affordable.

Current models and prices (official Tesla data as of January 2026)

  • Model 3 is the most popular sedan

Standard (Rear-Wheel Drive) — from €36,990

Premium (Rear-Wheel Drive) — around €44,990

Premium (All-Wheel Drive) — €48,990

Performance — €57,490. First deliveries of the Standard version began in February 2026. Limited-time promotions sometimes reduce the starting price to around €35,000.

  • Model Y — the best-selling crossover. The base version (Standard RWD) starts at €41,000–€42,500 (depending on trim level and current offers). The Long Range and Performance models are €8,000–€15,000 more expensive.
  • Model S and Model X — the premium class. Model S — from €95,000–€100,000 (Plaid over €110,000). Model X — from €100,000 and up.

Prices include 23% VAT but do not include options (color, wheels, Enhanced Autopilot / FSD — +€2,000–€12,000), delivery, or possible discounts.

Government Subsidies and Incentives (2025/2026 Program)

Portugal continues to actively support electric vehicles through the Ambiental Fund (Fundo Ambiental - Passageiros).

  • Total budget: €17.6 million.
  • Application period: December 29, 2025, to February 12, 2026 (or until funds are exhausted).
  • Retroactive from January 1, 2025 – eligible for applications for vehicles purchased in 2025.

For 100% electric passenger cars (BEV, category M1):

Individuals (pessoas singulares) – up to €4,000.

IPSS, local car rentals, and transport vehicles – up to €5,000 (maximum 4 vehicles per beneficiary, with the corresponding number of used vehicles being traded in).

Mandatory conditions:

  • New vehicle.
  • Price ≤ €38,500 (including VAT and associated costs) or ≤ €55,000 for models with more than 5 seats.
  • Mandatory abate (recycling) of vehicles with internal combustion engines older than 10 years.
  • After approval, 90 days to submit documents (including proof of abate).
  • Mandatory to keep the vehicle for at least 24 months (cannot be exported).

Additional benefits:

  • Full exemption from ISV ​​(registration tax).
  • Reduced IUC (annual road tax).
  • Subsidy for home charging in apartment buildings: 80% of the device cost (up to €800) + 80% of the installation cost (up to €1,000 per space).

With the subsidy, the actual price of a base Model 3 could drop to €32,000–€33,000, and the Model Y to below €40,000 (if within the price cap and the maintenance is completed).

Additional costs

  • Insurance: €400–€800/year.
  • Home charging is significantly cheaper than gasoline.
  • The Supercharger network in Portugal is expanding rapidly.
