It is not a matter of dealer greed or complex logistics. The answer lies in Portugal's unique tax system, which transforms the purchase of an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicle into a true luxury. Let's analyze the anatomy of the price of a Portuguese BMW.


How is the price composed?

In most European countries, the price formula is simple: Factory Price + VAT. In Portugal, a third, more aggressive variable enters this equation: ISV.

The final price of your BMW at the dealership is composed as follows:

The rational approach in the Portuguese reality involves hybrids (PHEV) or 100% electric cars. It is in these segments that BMW prices in Lisbon become competitive compared to the rest of Europe, and owning a car does not turn into an endless struggle with taxes.
